MEDIA ADVISORY: Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State Is Ready to Welcome Students for Fall Classes as Students Begin Moving in Wednesday

WHAT:

Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State University is ready for the start of fall classes, and members of the media are invited to cover move-in day and see the modifications made to classrooms for face-to-face classes.

The university will begin to welcome students to campus Wednesday, Aug. 19, with the first of five move-in days. The staggered approach over a five-day period with designated move-in blocks of time will help ensure a safer environment for moving students into the residence halls.

Classrooms have also been modified for the fall semester. Classrooms have been rearranged to allow 6 feet in all directions between people. Furniture has been reoriented to reduce face-to-face orientation. Desks have been pulled apart to increase distancing. Barriers, like screening, storage elements, plants and partitions, have been added to existing spaces. Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State has developed a set of principles, the Flashes Safe Seven, to ensure a healthy and protective environment for all students, faculty and staff on campus. Signs with the Flashes Safe Seven have been installed around campus and in buildings, and enhanced cleaning protocols are in place for all buildings. Classes begin Aug. 27.

From 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 19, members of the media are invited to come to campus and:

  • Capture video and interviews with Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State students moving into the residence halls.
  • Have access to classrooms to see what modifications have been made for face-to-face classes.
  • Interview university administrators about how Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State is prepared to welcome students back and to begin the fall semester.

Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State’s administrators, faculty and staff have been working hard all summer to provide the best possible experience for students while still providing the safest possible environment.
