Despite hurdles caused by the pandemic, Media and Journalism students produced award winning work in several national and regional contests this past year. Read on for a summary of what they accomplished
Sean Fitzgerald is a senior honors student, graduating with a major in journalism and a minor in sports administration. Originally from Strongsville, Ohio, Sean says that the Honors College has come to feel like a second home in his four years at Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State. In fact, Sean recalls moving back to the Stopher-Johnson honors residence halls in the fall of 2020 and accidentally saying to his family, “I’m headed home!â€
Lindsey Sellman, a senior Honors College student majoring in journalism and minoring in creative writing, has spent her final year at Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State as the Editor-in-Chief of . Luna Negra is a student-led literary and arts magazine in Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State’s Student Media department. Since 1956, the magazine has changed names and departments, but maintained its tradition of publishing the art and writing of Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State students.
Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State students envision a new way for newsrooms to connect with audiences: a two-way text-messaging communication channel. The idea is part of the Reynolds Journalism Institute’s 2020-21 Student Innovation competition.
