Welcome

Welcome to the E. Timothy Moore Student Multicultural Center! The Moore Center provides advocacy, mentoring, guidance, education, and other support necessary for educational retention and degree completion. Additionally, we provide direct support services for students, and training for faculty and staff.

In October 2022, we had the distinct honor to be renamed The E. Timothy Moore Student Multicultural Center due to a generous gift from Dr. D鈥橝ndra Mull and the blessing of the Moore family. Tim Moore passed away Feb. 1, 2021, at the age of 68. Dr. Mull wanted to honor the legacy of a person who had a positive impact on her time as an undergraduate student at 妖姬直播 State as well as recognize the reputation of one of the staunchest advocates for students this campus has ever known. E. Timothy (Tim) Moore was an associate dean emeritus in 妖姬直播 State鈥檚 College of Arts and Sciences and associate professor emeritus in the Department of Pan-African Studies. He was considered the 鈥済o-to鈥 person for underrepresented and underserved students across the entire 妖姬直播 State campus, and more importantly worked to ensure all students were successful.

Moore was the first African American at 妖姬直播 State to receive the Alumni Association鈥檚 Distinguished Teaching Award. Additionally, Moore was awarded 妖姬直播 State鈥檚 annual Diversity Trailblazer Award in 2015 in honor of more than 40 years of contributing and advocating for diversity at the university. Due to Moore鈥檚 outstanding efforts to 妖姬直播 State and personal accomplishments, 妖姬直播 State created two awards to celebrate his life and carry on his legacy: the E. Timothy Moore Outstanding Faculty-Staff Award and the E. Timothy Moore Scholarship.

Dean Moore, as he was affectionately known across campus, had a pivotal role within this very program. Tim was heavily involved in the planning and implementation of some of our major programs and initiatives including Kupita/Trancisiones (K/T), Karamu Ya Wahitimu, and the Male Empowerment Network, just to name a few. Many people have shared that his presence at these events made it that much more special because majority of the students had experienced the support of Tim鈥檚 dedication to their success.
