Training & Development announces revamped New Hire Orientation

The Division of Human Resources is excited to announce that we are introducing a hybrid model for New Hire Orientation. Historically, orientation occurred in person, but we adapted during the pandemic to conduct orientation virtually.

The new hybrid model detailed below will allow a return to in-person sessions, which are more conducive to employee engagement, satisfaction, and acclimation to the university, as well as virtual sessions which will accommodate varying schedules and campus locations.

What's changing?

Beginning July 17, orientations will alternate between virtual and in-person afternoon sessions. The benefits portion will also now be held on a separate day to allow for a more comprehensive explanation. Orientation sessions will occur in the following structure:

  • Welcome to Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State: General University Knowledge
    • Bi-weekly on Mondays, 2:30-5 p.m.
    • Sessions will alternate between in-person (Heer Hall) and virtual.
  • Benefits Overview
    • Bi-weekly on Wednesdays, 2:30-5 p.m.
    • Sessions will alternate between in-person (Heer Hall) and virtual.

Adjustment to New Hire Orientation Communications

Going forward, both the new hire and their supervisor will receive a copy of the orientation invitation. Orientation invitations will also be sent earlier in the onboarding process, rather than a few days before the session, as has been done in the past.
