Spring 2024

Dean's Desk: An Update from Dean Dr. Allan Boike

AB

Dear Alumni Family,This spring season at the Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State University College of Podiatric Medicine (KSUCPM) campus has been exceptionally vibrant and eventful. On May 17, we celebrated the commencement of 88 new doctors of podiatric medicine. It was my honor to congratulate these graduates as they embark on their residency programs nationwide. I am confident they will bring exceptional care to their patients, carrying forward the empathy, curiosity, and wisdom they have cultivated during their four years here.

Reflecting on the semester's end, I am proud of the remarkable achievements of our students and faculty. In this edition of Footsteps, you will find highlights of their accomplishments. Additionally, I commend our enrollment team for their dedicated recruitment efforts. Despite a national 5% decline in applications to podiatric medical schools, KSUCPM has seen only a 2% decrease. Our team is working tirelessly to attract new talent through research-based communications, guest speakers, networking with undergraduate advisors, and more.

As we transition into summer, I eagerly anticipate welcoming the new class of 2028 at the end of July and reuniting with many of you at our annual Hall of Fame & Alumni Awards Dinner and the North Coast Foot & Ankle Symposium during the third weekend of August. These yearly events foster a spirit of camaraderie that I look forward to each year.

Looking ahead, we are preparing for an important milestone: our accreditation visit with the Council on Podiatric Medical Education (CPME) from September 23-26, 2024.  KSUCPM is eager to host the accreditation team and showcase the college we are so proud of.

This issue captures the dynamic happenings on campus and within our community. I am grateful for our alumni's impactful research and community engagement efforts, which continue to place KSUCPM at the forefront of our field. These endeavors are vital in inspiring the next generation of leaders and physicians.

It has been a meaningful spring for KSUCPM, and I am excited to see where our current steps will lead us.

I look forward to seeing you this summer.

Warm regards,

Allan Boike, DPM, FACFAS
