TUTORING AND TESTING SERVICES AT KENT STATE ASHTABULA

Tutoring Services at Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State Ashtabula provides free tutoring for current Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State students in most subjects taught by Ashtabula Campus faculty. As of April 1, 2024, tutoring will be coordinated through the new KSU Navigate platform (see details below).

Peer tutors assist students with:

  • homework assignments
  • help clarifying lecture and classroom material 
  • reviewing for exams
  • help preparing for and practicing class presentations

The Academic Success Center also proctors exams as a courtesy to faculty and students. We offer proctoring services for make-up exams, online classes, and student accessibility services. Students must contact the Center at least 48 hours in advance to schedule an appointment for a proctored exam. You must provide a photo ID to take a proctored exam.

Introducing KSU Navigate!

KSU Navigate

KSU Navigate is a new academic success platform that allows you to find and schedule appointments for tutoring, supplemental instruction, writing support, and academic coaching. This new platform replaces the process previously used.

KSU  Navigate is available to students and staff via browser or the app store (Android and iOS). Getting started with KSU Navigate is easy.

Step 1: Download KSU® Navigate from one of these options:

Step 2: Access KSU Navigate

KSU Navigate on your mobile device:

  • Open the app.
  • Search for "Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State University" in the dropdown menu.
    • You will use your Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State email and password to log in to this app.

KSU® Navigate on a web browser

  • Students will visit to access KSU Navigate.
    • Use Chrome or Firefox browser for best results.
    • You will use your Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State email and password to log in to Navigate.
 

Step 3: Complete the Intake Survey

The first step to setting up your app is completing the intake survey. Tell us about yourself! Answers you provide are used to create tailored app content. You cannot access core platform features without completing the survey. After you’ve completed the survey, use the following pages in this guide to set up other features.

Make-Up Testing and Online Proctored Testing

We do NOT provide testing services on Fridays. 

Nursing, OTAT, OCAT, PTAT, RADT and RTT,  MUST follow their program rules as outlined in the program handbooks.

If you encounter a problem while using the online scheduling form, please call 440-964-4304. Repeated rescheduling of missed appointments will result in your inability to test with our center in the future.

Accuplacer Placement Testing

ALEKS and ACCUPLACER test results are used by academic advisors to determine proper course placement.

  • ALEKS and ACCUPLACER are administered at no charge.
  • Photo ID required for testing.
  • The ALEKS placement may take up to 90 minutes to complete.

ALEKS Math Placement Test

What is ALEKS Math Assessment?

ALEKS is a powerful artificial intelligence (AI)-based assessment software product that zeros in on the student's mathematical strengths and weaknesses, reports its findings, and then if necessary provides a learning module to improve the student's knowledge and skill. ALEKS will not ask multiple choice questions. Before beginning the assessment, students will complete an online tutorial so they know how to enter answers in ALEKS. The tutorial and placement may take up to 90 minutes to complete.
