Respiratory Therapy Students Present Research at Undergrad Symposium

Taking a look at clinical setting experiences for respiratory therapy students, Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State University at Ashtabula seniors Katlynn Brown and Maria Miller, second-year students in the Associate of Applied Science Degree in Respiratory Therapy program, presented last month at the Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State Undergraduate Symposium on Research, Scholarship and Creative Endeavors on the Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ Campus.

Brown and Miller presented a poster at the event on their research topic, “Factors Influencing Perceived Effectiveness of Teaching, Supervising, and Evaluating Respiratory Therapy Students in the Clinical Setting.â€

Their faculty mentor for the project was associate lecturer Megan Alicea, M.E.T., RRT.

The students’ research was a qualitative study exploring clinical instructor experiences for influential factors through an open-ended questionnaire. Their goal was to find a comprehensive answer to how clinical instructors perceive teaching, supervising and evaluating students in clinical settings and what forces influence the perceived ability to do so.
