Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State University faculty, staff, and students who are nursing mothers have the option of using a lactation room on each of the Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State campuses. The resource for new mothers is part of the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010 (the federal health care reform law). These rooms provide a secure space for nursing mothers, they are shielded from view, free from intrusion by co-workers and the public, and are not a restroom.

Use of a lactation room is optional for a nursing mother; those who wish to use one of the rooms should call the phone number listed for that location prior to their first visit, to make arrangements, and determine a schedule.

In many, but not all locations, the Building Curator serves as the point of contact for information and assistance with accessing the lactation room in their designated building. If key card access to a lactation room is required, the Building Curator, or designated contact person, should refer the end-user to the University Facilities Management Lock Shop to request access to the room /ufm/lock-shopkey-requests.

Please contact the Department of Human Resources for questions about lactation room policies and additional rights regarding the health care reform law. Requests for additional lactation room space or accommodations should be referred to the Office of the University Architect's Space Planning team by calling 330-672-3880.
