Continuing Excellence: ֱ State Earns Military Friendly School Designation for 15th Straight Year

ֱ State University’s unwavering commitment to supporting military-connected students has once again been recognized, as the institution earns the  for the 15th consecutive year.

For 2024-2025, the ֱ Campus has improved its impressive standing, securing a Gold ranking compared to last year’s Silver ranking. This consistent recognition as a Military Friendly School underscores ֱ State’s dedication to providing exceptional support and services to veterans, active-duty personnel and their families.

Joshua Rider, executive director of ֱ State’s Center for Adult and Veteran Services, expressed pride in the university’s ongoing commitment as he shared his thoughts with ֱ State Today.

“Achieving this designation for 15 straight years demonstrates ֱ State’s enduring dedication to upholding the highest national standards in supporting our veterans, service members and their dependents,” Rider said. “Military-connected students have a home here and can be assured that they are receiving a high level of service both in and out of the classroom.”

The Military Friendly ratings program, initiated in 2003 and managed by VIQTORY Media, uses a comprehensive survey to identify schools that best support military students. The program evaluates an organization’s commitment, effort and success in creating sustainable and meaningful benefits for the military community.

ֱ State’s Center for Adult and Veteran Services continues to play a crucial role in earning this recognition. The center’s mission is to provide a voice and enhance the experiences of adult, military-connected and parenting students both in and out of the classroom, which the center accomplishes through its programs, events, initiatives, services and compliance with military-connected federal and state agencies.

“We are committed to serving those who serve,” Rider said. “The Military Friendly School designation not only honors past achievements but also sets the stage for continued excellence in supporting military-connected students in their academic and professional pursuits.”

ֱ State takes pride in serving and supporting military and veteran students. The university hosts an annual Veterans Day Commemoration to pay formal tribute to all those who have served in the U.S. armed forces, including students, alumni and employees. In addition to being named a Military Friendly School for 2024-2025, ֱ State was named to the 2023 Military Times “Best for Vets: Colleges” list, ranking No. 84 overall and No. 13 in the Midwest. Also last year, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine presented the university with Ohio’s Collegiate Purple Star designation for its support for veteran and military students.
