IN A FLASH: Sitting on a 'Shroom

This stool has been on display in the DI Hub's MuseLab as "Party of One: Future Fungal Furniture." The material it was made from was grown by Britta Bielak, an assistant professor of interior design in Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State's College of Architecture and Environmental Design, with senior interior design students, Joseph Byrer and Olivia Mansier.

Bielak's research explores the potential of the root-like structure of a fungus as a sustainable building material. The exhibit's closing reception and gallery talk is happening April 6 from 6-8 p.m. outside the MuseLab. You can read more about the experiment here
