Prairie Burn 2024

The annual prairie burn on the university property near the Recreation and Wellness Center renews healthy plant growth and saves Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State money in maintenance costs.

 

A blaze burns the prairie grass that grows behind the Warren Student Recreation and Wellness Center during a controlled burning by the Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ Fire Department.

The protected prairie surrounding Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State University’s Warren Student Recreation and Wellness Center will be burned on Monday, April 15, between the hours of 9 a.m. and noon, to allow for new growth during the summer season.

Brainstorming Zero Waste at the DI Hub

Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State's DI Hub is participating in the Campus Race to Zero Waste One-Building Challenge, a friendly competition between universities with the goal of finding all the ways to reduce the amount of non-diverted trash in a specific university facility.

Flashes can sample items from nearly 20 vendors to help University Culinary Services determine which new items to add to on-campus menus.

Update Recycle Eclipse Glasses

After the eclipse, Flashes can do their part to promote sustainability  by recycling their eclipse glasses for use by viewers of future eclipses around the world.

The Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State University Board of Trustees approved the establishment of four new majors during its regular quarterly meeting held March 6 on the Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ Campus. The Board also approved recommended actions for the East Main Street Project in Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ and a naming action.
