Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State University President Todd Diacon announced Thursday that Lamar R. Hylton, Ph.D., has been selected to serve as vice president for student affairs, effective May 1, 2020. In addition, Diacon has appointed Amoaba Gooden, Ph.D., as the interim vice president for diversity, equity and inclusion, effective June 1, 2020.

As part of its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration held Jan. 24, Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State University has announced the 2020 recipients of its Diversity Trailblazer Award, Beverly J. Warren Unity Award for Diversity and Rozell Duncan Student Diversity Award.

As part of its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration held Jan. 24, Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State University has announced the 2020 recipients of its Diversity Trailblazer Award, Beverly J. Warren Unity Award for Diversity and Rozell Duncan Student Diversity Award.

Melissa Harris-Perry, Ph.D., the Maya Angelou Presidential Chair at Wake Forest University, television host, author and political commentator, served as keynote speaker at Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State’s 2020 Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration.

On Friday, Jan. 24, members of the Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State University community and the general public gathered to celebrate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. The university’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration started at 4 p.m. in the Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ Student Center Ballroom. This year’s keynote speaker was Melissa Harris-Perry, Ph.D., the Maya Angelou Presidential Chair at Wake Forest University, television host, author and political commentator.

Steve Harvey, producer, actor, author and former Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State University student, is paying it forward by awarding eight of Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State’s incoming freshmen with scholarships that will cover the total cost of attendance for each student.
