Nuried Hurtado
Internship: News Channel 5 Cleveland
Going out with reporters and shadowing producers is helping me improve those skills I developed during this last two years in TV2 and at Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State!
Journalism major Nuried Hurtado, '24, is experiencing it all as in intern at News Channel 5 this summer — "the plan that they have is to let me experience every single place in the newsroom and the station," she says.
Nuried has been working for Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State Student Media's TV2 for several years, most recently as General Manager. Her experience in the busy, industry-standard student newsroom and studio in Franklin Hall, has helped her feel comfortable in a professional setting during her internship.
"I feel that it’s been easier for me to get to the rhythm with the newsroom since I already had the basic knowledge about news production and content creation thanks to my experience with TV2," she says. "Going out with reporters and shadowing producers is helping me improve those skills I developed during this last two years in TV2 and at Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State!"
Nuried hopes to become a news producer after graduation, something she first experienced at TV2. The combination of her classes, Student Media, and now her internship, has her feeling prepared.
"Student Media was a big part of me getting the experience I needed. Without it, I wouldn't be where I am right now, (getting) internships and interviews."
