Visiting Scholar program

ESDRI can provide infrastructure support to visiting scholars working ESDRI-affiliated faculty members. The goal of this program is to accelerate collaborative environmental science, sustainability, bio-design, and allied research and development at Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State University and within the Northeast Ohio Community, to provide infrastructure for building and maintaining collaborations between KSU faculty, community partners, and researchers from other institutions, to build local and global impact and increase the reach of KSU research and creative activities.

Speaker and event support program

ESDRI-affiliated faculty can apply for support for a visiting speaker/scholar/event (up to $1000) for expenses such as travel, hotel stay, or honorarium. Speakers must have a strong ESDRI research area alignment with opportunity to collaborate with ESDRI members. Preference will be given to visitors engaging in additional student-centered training or outreach activities (e.g. in addition to a speaking engagement, providing a workshop or mentoring session). Inviting departments are asked to handle all travel arrangements and/or reimbursement paperwork. We ask that ESDRI be included as a sponsor in advertisement for the event(s).

Registered KSU student organizations may also apply for support to invite speakers or conduct events. Speakers or events must be relevant to ESDRI's mission and open to non-organization members. We ask that ESDRI be included as a sponsor in advertisement for the event(s).

To apply please email us a proposal at esdri@kent.edu

We also feature relevant Special Topics courses, which are not described in the Course Catalog.

Beginning Research and Drafting a Proposal Workshop

Follow along with this interactive workshop, as we help students begin their research journey or learn something new about the process.  What constitutes an acceptable source?  Where can you find legitimate sources?  What software can help ease the burden of research?  What are donors looking for in a proposal?  We answer these questions and more.  Click below for part 1 and part 2.
