Following a national search, ֱ State University has selected F. Jack Witt III as its new vice president for human resources. A ֱ State alumnus, Witt currently serves as vice president of human resources and administration at Owens Community College in Toledo, Ohio. He joins ֱ State on Sept. 6.
ֱ State University's Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Todd Diacon has announced that Joan Inderhees will join the Office of the Provost in August to serve as the 2016-2017 Provost's Fellow.
On June 28, ֱ State University’s Division of Information Services will begin implementing a Captcha service for the ֱ State online directory. A Captcha is a security feature that differentiates people from internet bots by presenting online users with a simple visual puzzle, often made up of distorted text.
Researchers in the College of Arts and Sciences at ֱ State University have published a breakthrough article on new properties of liquid crystals in the May 27 issue of Physical Review Letters. The article, which describes some recent surprising results involving nematic liquid crystals induced by a high magnetic field, is currently featured on the American Physical Society website as an “Editors’ Suggestion.”
ֱ State University was honored by the National Wrestling Coaches Association for having the fifth highest team grade point average in the nation. Additionally, seniors Mack McGuire (Upper St. Clair, Pennsylvania) and Tyler Buckwalter (Mill Hall, Pennsylvania) and redshirt freshman Kyle Conel (Ashtabula, Ohio) were named to the NWCA All-Academic Team.

The ֱ State University Board of Trustees today established a comprehensive, national search to recruit and select the university’s 13th president.
The events of May 4, 1970, placed ֱ State University in an international spotlight after a student protest against the Vietnam War and the presence of the Ohio National Guard ended in tragedy with four students losing their lives and nine others being wounded. From a perspective of nearly 50 years, ֱ State remembers the tragedy and leads a contemporary discussion and understanding of how the community, nation and world can benefit from understanding the profound impact of the event.
