Denise A. Seachrist, Ph.D., of Rootstown, Ohio, has been selected to serve as dean and chief administrative officer of Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State University at Stark, located in North Canton, Ohio. Seachrist has served as interim dean of Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State Stark, the only public university in Stark County and the largest Regional Campus of Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State, since July 1, 2014. She began serving as the permanent dean on Feb. 1, 2016.
Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State University is introducing a Cooperative Education program for students of all majors at all Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State campuses.
The Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State University Women’s Center in the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion will celebrate its 20th anniversary during the 2016-17 school year. The Women’s Center, formerly called the Women’s Resource Center, was established in 1996 following a recommendation from a university stakeholder committee to former Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State President Carol A. Cartwright.

The 10th annual Main Street Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ Art and Wine Festival will take place Saturday, June 4, from noon-10 p.m. in downtown Ñý¼§Ö±²¥. Proceeds will benefit Main Street Ñý¼§Ö±²¥, the nonprofit organization dedicated to the revitalization of downtown Ñý¼§Ö±²¥. The Art and Wine Festival features local artists, live entertainment and wineries from all over Ohio.
From getting deployed to Afghanistan to being unable to pay for classes, starting a family and even accepting a job at a winery in southern Germany. The reasons for leaving Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State University before completing a bachelor’s degree fall across a wide spectrum for some students.

Since 2008, Jill Lahrmer, assistant professor in Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State University’s College of Architecture and Environmental Design, has consistently shared her passion for interior design with her students.
Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State University held its 14th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration on Jan. 28 in the Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ Student Center Ballroom. The keynote speaker for the event was Joy-Ann Reid, national correspondent for MSNBC. The commemorative event also recognized the 2016 recipients of Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State’s Diversity Trailblazer Award, which honors diversity pioneers associated with Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State, and Unity Award for Diversity, which recognizes the contributions of any Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State unit that demonstrates significant contributions in the areas of diversity, equity, and/or inclusion.
The Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State University Board of Trustees today established a comprehensive, national search to recruit and select the university’s 13th president.
The events of May 4, 1970, placed Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State University in an international spotlight after a student protest against the Vietnam War and the presence of the Ohio National Guard ended in tragedy with four students losing their lives and nine others being wounded. From a perspective of nearly 50 years, Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State remembers the tragedy and leads a contemporary discussion and understanding of how the community, nation and world can benefit from understanding the profound impact of the event.
