Human Development Center
The Human Development Center is located in the School of Lifespan Development and Educational Sciences (Room 111 Nixson Hall) and has the overall mission of fostering interdisciplinary research and education in the areas of lifespan human development and family studies, with a particular emphasis on adult development and aging. To achieve this mission, specific research and instructional activities include:
- Rendering consultation and support for proposal development and grant writing.
- Providing faculty and students with laboratory space and equipment to conduct research.
- Assisting faculty and students with issues pertaining to research design, data collection and statistical analyses.
- Establishing a collection of materials to facilitate research and instruction (e.g., journals, handbooks, test & measurement inventories).
- Sponsoring workshops, conferences, and a distinguished lecture series in adult development and aging.
The Center currently houses research projects funded by the National Institutes of Health, offices for Graduate Student Assistants in Human Development and Family Studies, and the Graduate Certificate Program in Gerontology (offered jointly with the University of Akron).
