Drones and Airports
An unmanned aircraft system (UAS), more commonly known as a drone, can not be flown within five miles of an airport unless the airport and control tower has been notified ahead of time. This is a requirement from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
Anyone who plans on flying a drone within a five mile radius of the Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State University Airport should send an email to the Airport Manager at airport@kent.edu. The email should include the following information:
- Your name and contact information (phone number and/or e-mail address)
- The FAA registration number
- Location and time of the drone flight
Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State has published recommended guidelines for safe drone usage on the Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ Campus. Read the guidelines.
