FIRST-YEAR EXPERIENCE (FYE) EVENTS

During the First-Year Experience course, instructors and faculty members may require or encourage students to attend certain “FYE Events” to fulfill course requirements.

A.L.I.C.E. Workshops

At ֱ State University, all first-year students will complete A.L.I.C.E. (Alert, Lockdown, Information, Counter and Evaluation) training as a requirement for the First-Year Experience Course. A.L.I.C.E. training is done as a precautionary measure to ensure students and staff have insight and response options pertaining to an active shooter or threatening situation. Students are asked to register in advance for a session that works with their schedule outside of class time.

Confessions of a Golden Flash

Additionally, instructors and faculty members have the option to require or encourage students to attend a Confessions of a Golden Flash panel. During these panels, upper-class students share their real, lived experience as students at ֱ State to provide peer-to-peer information, resources and guidance for first-year students who may share similar experiences. These panels help to foster connections between student panelists and attendees and provide students with tools to be more resilient as challenges arise. Students are asked to register in advance for a session that works with their schedule outside of class time.
