Meet Rafael Chiclana Vega, a University Fellowship recipient. Rafael is a Mathematical Sciences Ph.D. student majoring in Pure Mathematics.
Please give a short overview of your research:
We try to find probabilistic estimations that give information about the behavior of abstract objects with erratic movement.
What made you choose to pursue your graduate degree here at Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State?
I was familiar with the high-quality research of the faculty of the Math Department here. There are numerous researchers whom I admire, all working collaboratively across a wide array of research topics that I had been interested in of a very high level. I knew that working with them would open up a lot of opportunities to grow as a mathematician.
What do you enjoy most about attending Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State for graduate school?
The diversity, not only in academic topics, being studied both in my department by both faculty and graduate students.
What are your future goals?
I want to continue working with my advisor and cultivate a research network to ultimately join a respected university as faculty member.
What does this award mean to you and how will it aid you?
