Meet Maya Kirkpatrick, a 2022-2023 Graduate Dean's Award recipient. Maya is a master's student majoring in Art History.
Please give a short overview of your research.
I specialize in Feminism, Queer, and Critical Race Theory in Art.
What made you choose to pursue your graduate degree here at Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State?
The opportunities and the flexibility for my research to cross time periods in Europe and America.
What do you enjoy most about attending Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State for graduate school?
I don’t know yet, but I’m so excited to start! The faculty I met are so nice and understanding it makes me excited to work with them.
What are your future goals?
I want to work in museums either as a registrar or another hands on position with the research, acquisitions, and exhibition designs.
What does this award mean to you and how will it aid you?
I am paying for grad school with what I have left from my undergrad savings, which isn't a lot, so this award will help me complete my degree!
