Chicken Momo Ingredients (Makes approx 50 momos)
Ingredients:
- 500 grams Ground chicken.
- 2 large onions, finely chopped.
- 1 Cabbage, finely chopped.
- Baby carrots 100 grams, finely chopped.
- 4-6 cloves garlic, minced.
- 1-inch piece of ginger, minced.
- 2-3 green chilies, finely chopped.
- 2 tablespoon sesame/ vegetable oil.
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
- Nepali Momo Masala (1 packet)
- Asian wonton wrappers (Can be found at any Asian grocery stores)
- Salt and Pepper to taste
- ½ stick butter.

Dipping Achar Ingredients: (Makes approx. 200 mL achar)
- 2 medium tomatoes
- 1-2 green chilies (adjust to taste)
- 50 grams sesame seeds
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1/2-inch ginger
- 1 large onion
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- Salt to taste
- 1 tablespoon cumin seeds
- ½ tablespoon coriander seeds
- ½ tablespoon Timur (Sichuan peppercorn)
- Chili flakes (adjust to taste)
- Fresh cilantro
- Scallion
- Fresh lemon/ lemon juice
Recipe- Chicken Momo:
- In a mixing bowl, combine all of the ingredients for chicken Momo listed above and mix it thoroughly.
- Put a spoonful of the chicken fillings in the center of the wrapper, fold the edges and pinch them together to seal and give it the dumpling shape.
- Steam the dumplings over boiling water for 15-20 minutes (Until the chicken is properly cooked/ check the temperature).
Achar Recipe:
- Roast the sesame seeds, cumin seeds, Sichuan peppercorn and coriander seeds until brown.
- Roast the tomatoes over an open flame or in a pan until the skin is charred. Allow them to cool, then remove the skin.
- Caramelize the onions for 10-15 minutes
- Roast the garlic and ginger in open flame/ pan.
- In a blender or food processor, combine the roasted ingredients
- Blend until you get a smooth or slightly chunky consistency, depending on your preference.
- Grind the roasted sesame seeds, cumin seeds and coriander seeds and add them to the mixture and mix them in the blender.
- Adjust the seasonings and lemon juice as needed and garnish with fresh cilantro and scallions.
- Now dip the momo with achar and enjoy.
Side: Chukauni
Ingredients:
- 3-4 medium potatoes, boiled and peeled
- 1 cup plain yogurt (Absolutely No flavored yogurt)
- 1-2 green chilies, finely chopped (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)
- 2 tablespoon mustard/ vegetable oil
- 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 2 tablespoon sesame seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon fenugreek seeds
- ½ tablespoon Timur (Sichuan peppercorn)
- 2-3 dried red chilies
- Fresh lemon/ lemon juice
Recipe:
- Cut the boiled potatoes into small cubes and place them in a mixing bowl.
- In another bowl, whisk the yogurt until smooth.
- Toast the sesame seeds and Sichuan peppercorn and ground them to a fine powder.
- Add chopped green chilies, grated ginger, cumin powder, salt and ground sesame seeds. Mix well.
- Pour the yogurt mixture over the cubed potatoes and gently mix everything together. Please do not mash the potatoes
- In a small pan, heat oil over medium heat.
- Once hot, add mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, dried red chilies, and turmeric powder.
- Remove from heat and pour the tempering over the yoghurt and potato mixture.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro.
