Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State University will hold its annual Veterans Day observance on Thursday, Nov. 9, at 11 a.m. at the Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ Student Center Kiva.
The program, Honoring All Who Serve, will include a flag-raising ceremony conducted by a joint color guard from the university’s Army and Air Force ROTC programs on the Student Green at Risman Plaza at 10:30 a.m., remarks from Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State President Beverly Warren and guest speaker Kevin Lacz. Mr. Lacz is a decorated former U.S. Navy SEAL and author of The New York Times best-selling memoir The Last Punisher. He is also the co-star of the blockbuster movie American Sniper, starring Bradley Cooper.
All are invited to come and pay tribute to America’s veterans. A special invitation is extended to Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State faculty, staff, students and community members who are veterans, active service members or who have family members in the military. Free parking will be available in the Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ Student Center visitor parking lot for event attendees.
A reception will follow the brief program in the Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ Student Center Kiva lobby.
Mr. Lacz will also speak Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. in the Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ Student Center Ballroom about the importance of taking risks. A book-signing will follow. This speech is sponsored by Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State’s Division of Student Affairs and the Center for Adult and Veteran Services.
The university will be closed on Friday, Nov. 10, in observance of Veterans Day.
