Denice Sheehan and Pamela Stephenson, College of Nursing

Denice Sheehan, Ph.D., RN, and Pamela Stephenson, Ph.D., RN, AOCNS, PMHCNS-BS, from the College of Nursing, participated in the 2016 Massachusetts General Hospital Workshop on Research Methods in Supportive Oncology in Boston, Massachusetts, from Feb. 21-26.

Sheehan and Stephenson attended the intensive, multidisciplinary workshop, which is designed to expose participants to a broad range of research topics, while also providing dedicated time to focus on individual grant writing under the direction of experienced mentors.

Sheehan’s research focuses on adolescents who have a parent in hospice care. She is interested in the strategies youth use to cope with the changes in their lives during the final months of a parent’s illness.

Stephenson’s research explores the diverse issues hospice and palliative care patients and their families face as they near the end of life. She is currently concentrating on how spiritual uncertainty affects patients involved in transitions toward dying.

The Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State University Board of Trustees today established a comprehensive, national search to recruit and select the university’s 13th president.

The events of May 4, 1970, placed Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State University in an international spotlight after a student protest against the Vietnam War and the presence of the Ohio National Guard ended in tragedy with four students losing their lives and nine others being wounded. From a perspective of nearly 50 years, Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State remembers the tragedy and leads a contemporary discussion and understanding of how the community, nation and world can benefit from understanding the profound impact of the event.
