George Kamberelis
Biography
George Kamberelis is Professor and Director in the School of Teaching, Learning & Curriculum Studies at Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State University. Dr. Kamberelis’ teaching focuses on early literacy development, teaching struggling/striving readers and writers, equity and inclusion in elementary education classrooms and qualitative research methods.
His research focuses on genre studies, writing development, new literacies, and qualitative inquiry (especially the use of focus groups in research). Dr. Kamberelis served on the committee that developed the writing assessment model for the 2011 National Assessment of Educational Progress. George also served on the committee that created the Board of Governors’ Common Core State Standards.
Dr. Kamberelis has published widely in journals and handbooks including Reading Research Quarterly, Research in the Teaching of English, Linguistics and Education, Pedagogies, Qualitative Inquiry, International Journal of Qualitative Studies in Education, Annals of the American Academy of Political and Social Sciences, Handbook on Promoting Social Justice in Education, SAGE Handbook of Qualitative Research, and Oxford Handbook of Qualitative Research Methods.
