Student Leadership Awards and Transition Ceremony

The Student Leadership Awards and Transition Ceremony is an event in which we celebrate and recognize our student leaders, organizations, and advisors for their contributions to the Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State community during the current academic year. As part of the evening's celebration, the Center for Student Involvement will conduct a student organization officer transition ceremony, honoring the accomplishments of the outgoing officers and welcoming the incoming officers to their positions.

STUDENT ORGANIZATION AWARDS

These awards recognize individual undergraduate students for their contributions to leadership development.

Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State Impact:

Presented to a student whose presence has had far-reaching impact on the university community. Candidates should have demonstrated innovation in addressing a university need, as well as whose leadership style can be seen as dependable, trustworthy and someone who exercises persistence and commitment in the face of adversity. 

Nancy & John Scott Emerging Leader: 

Presented to a freshman or sophomore student who has shown tremendous growth and leadership promise through their campus involvement and contributions to student life.

Outstanding Senior Leader: 

Presented to a senior who has displayed outstanding leadership and a sustained commitment to academic excellence, community involvement, and service to the University and Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ community throughout their college career. Nominators should indicate ways in which the candidate has demonstrated good scholarship and exceptional campus participation in both breadth and depth.

Peer Mentorship: 

Presented to a student who has served as a mentor or peer educator to their fellow students, team members, or classmates. Candidates should have demonstrated a commitment to sharing their knowledge, abilities, and experiences to help develop the capacities of others.

Purposeful Leader: 

Presented to a student who has demonstrated a strong sense of personal awareness and development. Nominees should have shown a commitment to personal and university values and engaging others to actively reflect on their own values.

Servant Leader: 

Presented to a student who has exemplified leadership through their desire to serve others. Candidates should have demonstrated ways in which they empower their peers and have an investment in the growth and development of others.

Unsung Hero: 

Presented to a student who has shown that leadership can be enacted from anywhere within a group. Candidates should have demonstrated a commitment to positively influence a program or organization from behind the scenes with a willingness to help in whatever capacity necessary.

Vanguard for Change: 

Presented to a student who has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the values of diversity, inclusion, justice, equity, and service. Candidates should have implemented programs, projects, or initiatives that address social inequities.

 

Nominations will open on Monday, 2/19/24, and will close on Friday, 3/1/24. Finalists will be recognized at the Student Leadership Awards and Transition Ceremony on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at 6 PM.

These awards recognize undergraduate student organizations and advisors for excellence in the areas of programming, service, advising, and more. 

Advisor Excellence: 

Presented to a student organization advisor who goes above and beyond the call of duty, supporting student leaders and advancing the mission of the registered student organization. 

Organization Excellence: 

Presented to a registered student organization whose members have demonstrated a strong ability to promote its values and ideals, used innovative methods in reaching their goals, and whose members have made significant contributions to the Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State community.

Programming Excellence: 

Presented to a student organization who is committed to brining excellent programs to the campus community that serve a wide variety of student needs and/or engages a variety of interests.

Service Excellence: 

Presented to a student organization who goes above and beyond to educate the community on social issues and give back through community service.

 

Nominations will open on Monday, 2/19/24, and will close on Friday, 3/1/24. Finalists will be recognized at the Student Leadership Awards and Transition Ceremony on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at 6 PM.
