Department Mourns Loss of Dr. Anatoly Khitrin

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is saddened to announce the death of Dr. Anatoly Khitrin, a professor who specialized in physical chemistry.

Khitrin received his M.Sc. from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology in 1978, followed by his Ph.D. in 1985 from the Institute of Chemical Physics in Chernogolovka, USSR Academy of Sciences.  He began his career at this institute in 1978 and ultimately became a leading researcher and head of laboratory.  He was then employed by the University of Oklahoma, serving as an adjunct professor and research scientist.

Khitrin began his employment at Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State University in Fall of 2002.  His main research interests in the department focused on spin dynamics and theory of magnetic resonance, magnetic resonance spectroscopy and imaging, quantum information, quantum amplification and material science.  He also served as a reviewer for several scientific journals, including the Journal of the American Chemical Society, Journal of Magnetic Resonance, and Physical Review A & B.
