Extended Reality (XR) Research Lab

Administered by Dr. Benjamin Kwasa and Dr. Stephanie G. Fussell, the XR Research Lab features 4 virtual reality (VR) stations for students and faculty to explore programs that enhance traditional classroom materials. There are two motion platforms that can be used with X-Plane and Microsoft Flight Simulator as well as similar transportation-centric programs. The XR Research Lab also has augmented reality (AR) and mixed reality (MR) technologies to support additional stations, based on research and teaching requirements.

The XR Research Team includes undergraduate and graduate students from aviation and engineering programs, allowing for cross-cutting research that focuses on a holistic approach to designing, developing, and implementing extended reality technologies that consider human factors, systems engineering, user experience, and complex decision making.
